Variations and determinants of antibiotic use in adult outpatients: A representative analysis of claim records from the Swiss population

Antibiotic resistance is a major public health problem and related to the frequency of antibiotic prescriptions. Most antibiotics are prescribed in primary care. We investigate patterns of antibiotic prescriptions in primary care in Switzerland using the database of Helsana, the largest Swiss Health insurer representing 17% of the adult Swiss population.
